In a civilized society, should anyone or any government ever force anyone to do anything against his or her will as long as that person does not infringe upon the life, liberty, or property of another?

Truman was barbaric
Thanks to the Mises Institute and Ralph Raico for reminding us about the barbarity of using atomic bombs on Japan in 1945. Note the quotes from American generals and historians stating how terrible and medieval it was to murder civilians. American textbooks never discuss how Japan knew it was beaten and was trying to surrender. Japan's fear of "unconditional surrender" eventually led to Truman ordering the destruction of two cities.
