Thirty years from now the map will be different

Many people, especially those who study history and the history of empires, believe the map of the U.S. will look different 20 to 30 years from now. They know that ALL empires break up. Empires break up for many reasons, including moral decay, a debasement of the currency, and attack from outside their borders.

Many people in America want out now. As you can read in this article, there a many candidates in Vermont who want to split off from the empire, I mean the U.S. In fact, there are active secessionist movements in 33 states. So go down to the local CVS or Walgreen's and buy a $5 map of the U.S. and write "2010" on it. Thirty years from now, you can pull it out and show your kids and grandkids, telling them that "this is what America used to look like."

What states we can secede? The Declaration of Independence, of course. In the second paragraph it says that if the government doesn't serve you, you have a right to abolish it and start a new form of government. I'm ready!

Maine has tried "Obamacare" - and it doesn't work

In 2003 the state of Maine put into action its version of universal health care. The results just six years later? Disaster. The system the government of Maine put in place was supposed to save money, but it has cost Maine taxpayers $155 million and the costs are still rising.

First of all, Maine got $50 million from us (I mean the federal government) to start the program. Then, the plan tried to save money by squeezing payments to hospitals and doctors (they really built in a nice incentive for hospitals and doctors to deliver quality care, didn't they?).

The program had a "public option," plus, people were not to be turned down for pre-existing health problems. Guess what happened. Well, as usual when the government tries to repeal the fundamental laws of economics, perverse conditions occur. So Maine has experienced a 74% increase in premiums. A healthy male who is 30 and single pays a montly premium of $762 in Maine, but in nearby New Hampshire, the same person pays only $222. The program is such a bust that they've closed it down to new enrollees, and people are put on a waiting list.

This is Obamacare in a nutshell, tried out in tiny little Maine (and also in Oregon, Tennessee and Massachusetts, with the same results). So when it's applied to the whole nation? - yes, disaster. Time for a return to a free market in medicine with no government involvement.

Taxpayers will lose on this one

Don't you just love government bailouts and government owned enterprises? Now the government (I mean, taxpayers) owns 56% of GMAC, which has been bailed out a few times and will post a massive loss this year. With the billions being lost on waging war around the globe, the looming health care "reform" that will break the bank, and the continued decline in the housing and other markets, is there any doubt in you mind that this thing (the U.S.A.) is headed for a massive meltdown?

Time to own physical gold and stock your closets with supplies. The situation looks more and more perilous every day.

Our Money Goes To . . . . ?

The U.S. Government just loves to spend, spend, spend. Take a look at H.R. 3081 here, which was signed into law by Obama the Imperial. Notice the massive increases. I just love sending all those billions to foreign countries, don't you? Just like the Constitution says. Not.

Bernanke picked apart - yet again

I've admired Frank Shostak's reasoning and sound economic logic ever since he started appearing on mises.org. I especially like the story about how he first picked up Human Action and how it fascinated him.

Here, he does the rather easy job (since Ben Bernanke is such a quack) of picking apart the Fed Chairman's weak statements regarding the U.S. economy.
