In a civilized society, should anyone or any government ever force anyone to do anything against his or her will as long as that person does not infringe upon the life, liberty, or property of another?

Youth must lead the way

It's amazing how the mainstream media still tries to ignore Repulican presidential candidate Ron Paul. He was ignored in an L.A. Times article this week, and I saw a report on how candidates are effectively using the internet and they didn't mention him then either - even though he has been, by a massive margin - the most effective campaigner on the net.

However, the college campuses are all buzzing about Ron Paul. It's because the youth of America have the most to lose. The draft is coming back, the country is going broke, and young people will be forced to pay into a bankrupt system their whole lives and never see a dime. Of course, I'm talking about Social Security.

Keep up the good work 18-25 year olds. And if you're friends haven't gotten involved yet or are into statists like Guiliani, Clinton, Romney, and Obama, try to convince them of the error of their ways. The message of freedom is powerful.

Hey prof,
Here at work, again. Where too much of my "hard earned" money will be taken away...

I've been arguing on my LiveJournal back and forth with someone who feels Ron Paul can't make any difference. He compares Ron Paul's plans to that of Communism. As in... it won't work. It's that mindset that I think is really damaging to RP and, essentially all of the US. They feel it can't be done, therefore I'm going to vote for _______. WHAT?! Our country didn't prosper for over a century without IRS and income tax? With IRS and income tax now... are we prospering? NO! Hahaha, ok. I'm going to stop there before I get into a rant...

And then my friend, the one I mentioned who said we need to raise taxes, FOR THE RICH (oh, God!) because celebrities, athletes... basically anyone who makes over 500K needs to give 75% of their income to taxes! UNLESS they and I quote, "didn't work their ass off in medical, law, or graduate school"

What's happening? It's frustrating.

The live journal person is clueless if he/she thinks Ron Paul in any way is associated with communism. He's 180 degrees away from communism and the coercive power of the state. Probably shouldn't waste much time with someone who doesn't know anything.
Your friend doesn't understand the Constitution and capitalism. Ask him if he believes someone should keep the fruits of their labor, or should the state be able to confiscate as much as they want.

No, no. He didn't say RP was a Communist. Just said his ideas for change will not work. As Communism won't work. Haha. I thought he was calling RP a Communist at first, too.
